I live in a small metro area. My church is interested in putting on a community service / health fair.?
This would be to educate individuals and families about community services or public benefits they might need and quality for as well as healthy living practices. Has anyone done such a thing?

- One coming in my area this month. It's to help the poor know of services, emphasis seems to be health care and jobs. Info: SURVIVING & THRIVING IN TROUBLED TIMES is the theme of the Community Resource Fair to be held Saturday, Oct 24 from 9-4. Sponsored by United Way and numerous partners, the event will provide valuable information to help improve people's lives in these troubled times. Admission is free to the public and will include a nursery and supervised child-care and activities. A free lunch will be provided to all attendees. Dozens of nonprofit agencies will have informational booths and the day will consist of 20-30 minute informational sessions during the morning and repeated in the afternoon on topics including: Budgeting, nutrition and fitness, how to shop for less and get the most nutrition for your money, healthy food preparation, keeping a healthy mind and body, managing stress, caring for elderly and the disabled, seniors going back to work, searching for a job, retirement planning, dealing with foreclosure. There will be free vision, blood pressure and depression screenings. There will be the keynote lunch speaker, and an inspirational speaker, business consultant and Chair of the Fair, will give a presentation as well.
