What are "community-based" mental health services?
What defines "community based"?
Public Comments
- Being based in the community.
- I think, it is meant for poorer individual or isolated to certain areas
- Places called half way houses,or quarter way ,where you reside and get treatment while in the system, some are actual houses with a small nuber of residents ,and have help available on the spot should you need it.With all available services in place ,meds ,doctors etc...
- It means the facility, group home or even a large building intended for people who need care with everyday needs - is located within the community. Or, right next door to private homes that other people own. A CBRF is a: 'Community Based Residential Facility'. These facility help people with their personal needs, medication administration, (under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.) Hope that helps.
- They're also not for profit agencies sponsored by charity and government grants. Their services are, therefore, tenuous due to funding ebbing and flowing. At any moment a service could be cut. On the other hand, there may be a 'special' need they've identified in the area that they and only they are equipped to address; like teen age pregnancy for instance if that's the case. Anyway, they're invaluable. Ciao!
- And while they may have inpatient services, they're usually not geared to the seriously ill, who tend to be placed in more traditional institutions.
