Where are there gaps in health care services?

What role should the federal government play in assuring that there are no overlaps or gaps in health care delivery services? What role should the private sector play?

  1. the federal government keeps pushing for lower costs... and yes, the consumer likes that, but this does not help society. it is driving people out of the medical field. they must allow health care to be a free market. regulating health care prices is like regulating wal-marts prices. regulating prices at wal-mart sounds pretty ridiculous, so why isn't regulating health care prices? Malpractice should be kept to a minimum, only when it is REALLY needed, not when the person feels like it. many cases are like the case in which a lady sued mcdonalds, because the hot coffee which she spilled on her lap(in a container marked caution hot) happened to be from mcdonalds. meaning, many are not justified. many areas have already felt the heat of the lack of doctors. there are areas where people drive 2 hours just to see a doctor. wonder why? because the gov't is creating a new profession, which is not desirable. who wants to work long hours, rarely see their family, and have to go in a round on weekends, and then have society demand you to work for peanuts. the federal gov't need to make sure that health care is more free market. so if people don't like the care, or the price, they can go somewhere else! this creates competition, and this is exactly how every other business works. if they allowed this, care would be so much better and at a more acceptable price for the average american. as for the private sector, they are not really helping, but the option should be left open. the problem is that money often is lost on the patients, and then more money is lost on other patients. doctors are people too, and they worked hard for the money they make. if they work harder, shouldn't they get more money? america needs an attitude change, and less interference from the federal gov't.
